Companies are recognized or loved for a multitude of different reasons. You may like a product they make, your friend may like the way another company is managed, and other people may like the company for innovations they’ve made or because they help the community.
But what happens when you pick a batch of companies based on revenue, and then ask executives to rank those companies based on several different factors (like management quality, investment values, community help, etc), and compile a list? Well, you’ve got the world’s top-most admired companies.
No surprise, I think, for the company in the number one spot. It seems like everyone we see has an iPhone, and they certainly were the key player in the portable music industry, not to mention the universal love it seems so many have for the company. Apple Computers came in at the number one spot. Everyone’s favorite shopping mall ranked at number two, Amazon. 3 was a little bit of a surprise, but I guess if you were to poll random people on the street and ask them to yell out some of the first brands they can think of, they’ll probably call out “Starbucks.”
